The Parish of Satley is located in the north-west of County Durham accessed mainly via the B6296 road which links the A68 to the south near Tow Law and the A691 in Lanchester to the north. The Parish comprises the village of Satley, together with the hamlets of East and West Butsfield to the north-west, with High Stoop to the south and Salter's Gate to the west of the A68.
